Perhaps we could have that part voiced as well.

Quick, get ahold of Brad Jones (The Cinema Snob)!

(Anyone who's watched Suburban Knights will know why)

"Those paintings belong in a museum! Preferably my museum!"

Dont know who he is and never heard of that. I think keeping it original Indiana Jones would be fine.
Tarius: I have now conquered the galaxy twice and am working on a third. Once thats out of me, I will be back to work.
TDF: Which game is that(I assume its a game and not real life)
The Khan: If it was real life, we would know about it. And I dont think he means this Galaxy.
Tarius: Yes, I really lead a secret double life where I am a galactic overlord.

The potential problem with setting it up as an activator with an option to steal it is whether or not it would also work with the existing stealth mechanics-I.E. would nearby NPCs recognize that you've "stolen" the item if it wasn't set up as an item in the traditional sense?

Perhaps we could make the painting as an stealable item that vanishes instead of going to the inventory. Or perhaps make a "mock" item that is marked as stolen if the player activates the activator thus tricking the NPC's nearby.

I think the general idea at this point is that the paintings won't be stealable unless we plan on making them stealable. Making it so you can simply steal every single one of them runs counter to the whole concept of creating a wide variety of different ways the player retrieves the paintings.

Also, the recent extension I came up with for the quest where the player is required to steal a painting involves them replacing it with a replica. Now of course it would be extra suspicious in that particular case since the owner has probably been pestered enough to the point where they'd immediately suspect the museum if it went missing but the same could still be said to some extent or another for the other paintings as well.

Each of the owners probably have some awareness that their painting is wanted by the museum, and even with the few who might not it wouldn't be all that incredibly difficult to trace it to the museum since the stolen item will be on public display. It's obviously in the best interests of the museum to ensure that each painting is attained legitimately unless there simply is no other way.

So the whole replica idea was both a work-around for that problem as well as a way to make the quest just a little more interesting.

As for the Indiana Jones reference-I'd assume Brad Jones (again he's known a The Cinema Snob, and FYI he's one of the contributors for a website called That Guy With the Glasses) would be ever so slightly easier to get ahold of and convince to read a variation of the line than Harrison Ford. He does a halfway descent impression although personally I think you can still tell it's him and not Mr. Ford saying it, but Brad's voice sounds so awesome anyway that it more than makes up for it.

Besides, fans of him would probably hear it and be like - "What?..Hey, did they get Brad Jones to do that?!" lol

When I suggested voice to it, I did mean someone doing a good impression. I didnt mean that we need to get someone who might be famous.(nope, still have not heard of any of that) I think most people would get Indiana Jones.

Normally, he does internet reviews of old exploitation films amongst other things.

Stealing books? We're talking about the line "It belongs in a Museum!" and whether or not we should throw that in as a reference since the museum proprietor wants the paintings in his museum.

Of course we already had been talking about an entirely different Indiana Jones reference a few months ago with an Ayleid Ruin where you have to pass three trials Last Crusade-style.

I recognize that name, but still have no idea who that is. If we are doing Potter references, than someone needs to die.

EXPECTO PATRONOUS!!

You've got to at least admit it's a billion times better than Twilight.

It has it's share of crazy fans but what fandom doesn't? You might as well dismiss Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, etc. while you're at it.

I guess you could call me a crazy Harry Potter fan although my insanity is not directly tied to my fandom. :sheo:

Yeah, it just started as a suggestion that we include a quote of "It Belong in a Museum"-then sort of went on a tangent from there. Madness, I tell you!! :sheo:

This thread is getting so crazy that Sheogorath's asylum appears sane by comparison. Why did Harry Potter come up? And Yes Twilight is far worse than Harry Potter... I wander what's worse than Twilight?
