PC_Col_U_Hat_N1_01-03 [Final]

The headwear on the right. 2-3 variants.

This one's pretty similar to the hat I already made. I'll claim this, make one version closer to the concept art, and one with a more pronounced trim.

Annnd updated! With the hat model I already had lying around. Extravagant Cyro-Nordic hat, made of black velvet and white fur, with gold trimmings. And a tassel. Still looks like this. Do these hats need a gnd version?

I believe helms simply act as their own ground model without needing to make another. They are certainly one item in the CS, but I think they only consist of one part as well.

Holy toledo, that's a big hat. I think my only critique is that the texture is a liiiiitle on the small side at 256x256, but others can feel free to disagree. I'm kind of a snob about this kind of thing, haha. :geek:

I would always make a gnd version when the body part mesh cannot be placed very well as an individual object in the interior cell. If you want this hat to lay out on shop tables, you may want to make a gnd version with a flat lower side at least.

think my only critique is that the texture is a liiiiitle on the small side at 256x256, but others can feel free to disagree.

Clothing and other relatively small objects do not require a huge resolution, imo. They will still look sharper than the 1024x1024 texture surface of the terrain or the house wall nearby. My pants and shirts are currently having a resolution of 512x512. This is a smaller object, so 256x256 works for me.

Looking at it in Nifskope I cannot really see any blurriness that would be offputting to me ingame.

Hats need to be big: they replace the player's hair and ears, so they have to plausibly be able to cover all of that up (unless if you want to look like someone scalped you). Besides, the only other clothing article we have from Colovia is that weird yellow leprechaun hat: maybe Colovians just have a thing for weird hats?

Wait, isnt the hats/helmits supposed to replace hair in some cases?

They do replace hair, which in Morrowind includes the ears.

I'm at a critical point for my master paper right now, so I haven't been able to give these or my other claims the attention they need. That's only going to get worse in the coming month(s), I'm afraid. If possible, I'd like to hold on to the claims so that I can give them my undivided attention after I've finished my studies. Of course, if any of these hats is deemed essential, feel free to take it off my hands.

Update on hat: still hat. I've made the second version, which will be closest to the concept art. Looks like this. Starting on the third one now.

This should be finished. Only two things I'm a little uncertain about: the GND for the first hat seems kind of darker than the others (possibly a material issue) and the bounding box of the third hat is oddly shaped (don't know how to fix that).

The third hat looks like this:

- PC_Col_U_Hat_N1_01 was mighty big so I reduced its size. It now seemed to fit alright on any head i tested.
- I fixed the misscaled bounding box on PC_Col_U_Hat_N1_03G.
