PC_Col_C_Pants_W1_01-04 [Final]

Postby Worsas » 28 Jan 2014, 23:05

3-4 variations of the straight pants I was already working on:

These are going to be common pants. Western style.

Done. Nothing too fancy. Mostly just worker pants.

This must still go through a proper review.

1. Functional

Items
-Are the filenames and IDs correct? Yes
-Polycount appropriate? Yes
-Does the size make sense? Yes
-Do the values of the object make sense? Yes
-Are there icons (and groundmeshes)? Yes
-Can the item be equipt properly? Yes
-Is it assigned to the correct body parts? Yes
-Do certain npc-animations not cause issues? No

Textures and Icons
-Are the filenames correct? Yes
-Are the texture dimensions apropriate? Yes
-Does the dds-file use the right compression? An opaque texture should use DXT1. Textures with Alpha can have DXT3 or DXT5. Yes, icons could be saved as DXT 1. But that is nitpicking and extra work foor 800 bytes.
-Does the dds-file have mip maps? Yes

2. Visual

-Are there notable holes in the mesh? No
-Are there apparent uv-stretches? No
-Does the object stylistically appear fitting in the game environment? Yes
-Does the object appear sensible in the world context? Yes

3. Testing

To verify the above points, each object is tested ingame. Clothing and armor must be tested with a female and a male character respectively. Done

4. Verdict

Looks good and can be added to the PC_Data.

One thing I did notice is that this can't be used with the vanilla clothes. IIt overlaps the shirt at the waist. But that is something we should avoid anyway.

I always save icons as DXT3. I believe I read somewhere that this is how it is usually done. DXT1 has hard alpha edges, as you probably know, which may have a bad impact on a small icon. Regarding the filesize it does not matter eitherway.

DXT3 or DXT5 are both fine, but DXT5 has more quality.
Tarius: I have now conquered the galaxy twice and am working on a third. Once thats out of me, I will be back to work.
TDF: Which game is that(I assume its a game and not real life)
The Khan: If it was real life, we would know about it. And I dont think he means this Galaxy.
Tarius: Yes, I really lead a secret double life where I am a galactic overlord.
