The shirt at the lower left.

2-3 versions are needed. These are going to be expensive shirts. Western style.

Couple design notes because I'm not entirely happy with the concept art:

The shirt is three layers- a knit wool long-sleeved tunic, a linen shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows, and a leather vest. The over shirt is plain white or tan, while the undershirt is colored (wine red, in my imagination) and patterned. The shirt also has, for ornamentation, a simple gold chain necklace.

Now with sleeves:

To me it already looks expensive enough and does not require a necklace on top of this, but you tell me.

I'll just upload the first version for now. It has the problem of exposing slight gaps on the npc-body, but you should rarely notice them ingame. I hope so, at least.

This happens to be number 02 instead of 01 because 01 has got a black instead of a purple wool undershirt and I focused on 02 in the further course instead.

Also I'm not uploading a psd this time because it is extremely big. If you are ever interested, let me know and I'll look about uploading.

This looks fabulous- to be honest this was the concept I was least sure about as an in-game item, but you knocked it out of the park.

Regarding the chain, it's a non-issue. The blue and red necklace on the texture actually looks better.

You should have seen the in-game shot where this shirt was pimp walking down the streets of Brina Cross on the back of a Redguard... Fantastic.

Even if it looks as if I claimed this shirt two days ago and finished the first version yesterday, it has taken me the most effort to get right of all pieces so far. I usually start to work on a piece before I claim it (the same with interiors).

I think we need as much choice as possible for our npcers, so I really want every functioning piece we can get. I'll probably be doing the last shirt in unclaimed before I start to make variations.

If you want to throw up the PSD, I'll handle the variations.

gimp has somehow merged all layer groups into single layers on export. So I have saved you detail layers that may be useful for you in a separate psd. I hope you can even open these files.

Thankyou for the support!

The only thing I might change is the gold, we were discussing it in IRC yesterday and it feels like something that should be saved for the U stuff in Colovia. Other than that I really like what you did here.

Jiub, could you upload your above texture variant so I can put everything together? I am currently creating the third texture variant for this shirt.

Thankyou very much, man. I would have continued with something else otherwise, in case you were wondering. If you cannot spare time or you don't have any motivation, don't hesitate to drop a notice, though. Then I can concentrate on something different for the time being.

Re: PC_Col_M_Shirt_W1_01-03 [REVIEWING]

Postby Worsas » 12 Jul 2014, 15:06

Are the filenames and IDs correct?
Yes

Polycount appropriate?
Yes

Does the size make sense?
Yes

Do the values of the object make sense?
Yes

Are there icons (and groundmeshes)?
Yes

Can the item be equipt properly? Is it assigned to the correct body parts? Do certain npc-animations not cause issues?
I have tested this many times. So yes.

Are the texture filenames correct?
Yes

Are the texture dimensions apropriate?
Yes

Does the dds-file use the right compression?
Yes

Does the dds-file have mip maps?
Yes

Are there notable holes in the mesh?
Not anymore.

Are there apparent uv-stretches?
No, apart from the unavoidable stretches due to the broad imperial bodies.

Does the object stylistically appear fitting in the game environment?
I think so. They are not 100% vanilla-look, but they work well enough.

Does the object appear sensible in the world context?
PC_Col_M_Shirt_W1_03 is right at the edge between common and expensive. I noticed that expensive clothing in the original game already featured golden (let's say brass) appliqués and mostly looked meaningfully more elegant than common clothing. So the brass necklace and belt knuckle on PC_Col_M_Shirt_W1_02 totally make sense to me. As PC_Col_M_Shirt_W1_03 currently looks a little bit too poor, I have decided to add some little ornateness to the sleeves.

Approved. Please overwrite pc_col_m_shirt_w1_03_sleeves.dds in the file above with the one included here.
