Stirk Interior Claim PC_i1-51 [Final]

Postby Scamp » 31 Jan 2014, 18:15

Ayleid ruins of Vabriasel. This will probably be partially flooded. Since it's off the coast, it may have some nice loot in it.

Are there still meshes needed for cluttering the ruins? Otherwise we could maybe make a list to get some done?

For what all we plan on doing with them, yes there are many meshes still needed. We have none of the furniture or other items aside from one small chest and the coins as well as some welkynd stones. I'll make a thread in the design section where we can discuss clutter items that we would like to broaden the Ayleid ruin experience.

Nice. Any pointers? As in how big it should be, what kind of enemies, light settings...

I would check the other ruin that Scamp is now doing for light settings. As for size, I'd probably keep it small-medium as we still lack a lot of the elements to make the large epic ruins not feel empty. Enemies are done at the NPC stage, but they would be mostly Skeletons as in Oblivion, but also we will have Guardians which are like ancestor ghosts, but they are in the shape of a large bird spirit rather than a mer.

Other than that I would just have fun with it and get creative with the pieces you have at your disposal.

I asked about enemies because pirate clutter would be quite different from undead clutter :)

I figured, just wanted to clarify as even veterans like Praedator have put creatures in ints before.

Just as a point of clarification, you can place dead creatures/NPC's, just not live ones.

Here's a WIP. I may have become over-excited and as a consequence gone a bit overboard on size. The South part will be where the late lord of Vabriasel once inhabited; the East part will be where general living quarters were; the north part, under water for the most part, is the tomb. I tried to make this part maze-like and a bit confusing so that only those prepared with water breathing can risk going in for the noice loot I will be putting in at the end of the tomb: maybe an Ayleid coin hoard? or do we have something more fitting?

I would change the welkynd stones in the small room you have to levitate to reach to the misc item version so they can be picked up. Including the one in the lamp post thing. The ones you have in the ceiling or in the chandeliers hanging from the ceiling should use static ones like you have already. The layout looks great though.

Yeah, I realised we have misc_ welkynd stones shortly after that update and replaced them. I also did a bit more detailing, using some ex_AR assets; made a little ramp to get to that platform with the dead pirate without levitating; cluttered the catacombs area somewhat, adding what I deem pretty decent loot, including a custom spear with a cool name :D

This tileset is too much fun haha. But I am having a hard time cluttering it. Should I put off submitting it until we have more Ayleid stuff? Anyway, heres another update:

With this one being flooded, I don't think you need to wait for more resources. The clutter you are doing currently should be sufficient to make the ruin interesting without needing the newer pieces. I like what I see here.

Alright, I think I would call this done, at least for now. I'd love to come back to it once we have more stuff though. Reliquaries and Welkynd stones can only get you so far. I attribute the emptiness to extensive looting by pirates ;)

This interior is looking really nice. Good job :haveanicecream:

I found an issue when testing it in game though. For some reason you are unable to use any of the stair sets, it blocks you as if there is an invisible wall in the way.

Yes there appears to be a problem with collision on the stairs meshes. I'm sure it'll be sorted out by release time :)
