underwater teture? liike.. the ground cover? hmmm... i can try that, aswell as vertex colouring it a shade of green, that'd like nice.

Sorry, edited before you posted, but try adding grass too. Good luck and good night(?).

yep, thanks!

working on grass... got a brilliant texture, but it needs a mesh, gonna either use S:HOTN's, P:C's or Vurts, cause i have permiss. and i'm gonna use different grass types for different stpots: tall, water grass-thing, (i don't know the word right now) in the underwater area, and some sorta jungle shrub on land.. to give variety.

algy should look better with grass.. i'll make it my priority 2morrow. after sleeping, alot.

dirnae wrote:Personally I think the witcher 2 concept is a good one, you have good taste. Keep working at it and follow your ideas through.

On a completely unrelated note, this is The Witcher 1, however I do agree it looks nice - in The Witcher, somehow Wolli's thing needs some more work to look properly.
I'd say if you decide for using this concept, you should be using more grass and other stuff growing in the "scum", however if you feel like making a more Bitter Coastish swamp you should go with a connected, large piece of scum which you place over the water.
Personally I'd love to get away from the vanilla look and try something new here, so please try to add new touches to your swamp, Wolli.

Region concepts ain't easy to make, eh?

it's not the concepts, it's the things based of the concepts :P.
yep, grass is a def. already got furns, and heaps of plants, and those roots to fill everywhere in.

i'll try to get grass done today ;)

and yeah, basically; i did have a BC scum piece, i just wanted to make sure it was different. After all, i'm not using those knee things from the BC because samirA said they were too related to the BC. :D

yeah no knee things. Scum is good though. It would be nice to see decaying tree stumps in place of the knee things.

anyone know how to add colour to an alpha? i want to add some green to the scum meshes as ingame the blue water completely ruins the effect.. and i may endup just going BC scum style. which isn't great.. it can't even be in the same "pool or stream" of water as the niben.

Wolli has shown me this yesterday and I've got to say I was rather impressed.

I told wolli to do something about some of the overly colorful herbs, he had placed. But there is one thing beyond that is bugging me about this overall concept: The temperate character.

I believe the black wood should be a lot more tropical and darker (dark, almost black bark of the trees). And you should not see grassland-stuff in it.

The scum, however, combined with the algy river-bed-texture wolli has shown me in this screenshot, are quite cool. I would definetively keep that.

Nonetheless I would look for different textures for anything above water, especially the rocks and the grassy parts. And I would give the trees different bark and leave-textures.

I agree that it shall look a bit darker overall, and have a more dusky feel to it. I also like the scum.

ha, good one TDF ;)

thanks for the feed back muspila! the bark texture is a wip, so don't worry about that one; it's not at all mossy enough, as a swamp suffering tree should be.
i'll see what i can do about darkening everything else. i've still got 1 moss texture and 2 other textures to replace, so perhaps i'll make them dark; leafy; dead; muck, things. :)

i'll find some better leaves too, though i like the brown :P. and i'll see what i can do about the rocks, to make them look better.

It's not that the rocks as such look particularly bad. They are only not swampy enough, imo.

forgot about this thread... haha

The swamp water looks pretty good.
Tarius: I have now conquered the galaxy twice and am working on a third. Once thats out of me, I will be back to work.
TDF: Which game is that(I assume its a game and not real life)
The Khan: If it was real life, we would know about it. And I dont think he means this Galaxy.
Tarius: Yes, I really lead a secret double life where I am a galactic overlord.

Many cool details there. The hanging moss, the weird rockarch, those roots. And the yellowish glowing mushrooms fit into the scenery very well.

It's already a quite cool region so far. I have no idea why you keep telling us we should ignore this or that it'd be crap. As for me, I'm open to a multi-threaded development of a province. Then again we should maybe properly conceptualize the Black woods, of course, using your wip as a base for that.

What do you others think about that, though? How about some brainstorming?
