Information

About

I've had this pack in the works for quite awhile now, but only recently I've reached a point where it's finished enough for me to feel confortable officially releasing it. This pack is based on the original Minecraft textures but they have been reworked to have an 8-bit NES feel to them with reduced detail and color depth. It may also help increase performance to some extent because the texture files are somewhat smaller.

Requirements

You might want to use the MC Patcher HD Fix if you want to be able to see the custom lava, water and portal textures.

Changes

0.95

  • Adjusted animation speed for lava.
  • Added fire texture.
  • Adjusted opacity of Nether portal texture.
  • Added spider textures.
  • Added Ender Crystal and Ender Dragon beam textures.
  • Changed the bedrock texture to more closely resemble the original.

0.975

  • Changed the snow texture, it now more closely resembles the snow man texture.
  • Adjusted the lava animations. The flowing lava animation is now slower and the "still" lava animation has fewer frames.
  • Cut out redundant frames for all custom animations.
  • Removed unaltered Ender Dragon textures.
  • Changed the pack icon.
  • Adjusted the Blaze texture to have brighter colors.

0.99

  • Updated the pack for snapshot 12w04a with Ocelot and Cat textures, jungle tree and leaves textures, updated dispenser texture Bottle o' Enchanting icon. Note the pack is still backward compatible with 1.1.
  • Removed all non-retextured files, reducing the file size of the pack significantly.
  • Adjusted the Blaze texture with whites in its eyes.
  • Fixed spider textures a second time-may have solution to Ender Dragon texture problem.

HELP!

Update: I think I may have narrowed down the source of my Ender Dragon retexturing issues. Minecraft appears to be very particular about the format I save any glow map textures in (i.e. "ender_eyes). I realized this when I encountered a spider in a cave and noticed that the glitchy white texture was glowing in the dark. I'll experiment with this and if I still can't get it to work I'll release 1.0 without the Ender Dragon textures.

This is my first release so I'd definately appreciate any feedback or advice.

Even if you don't play Minecraft I'd like to hear some thoughts on how you think it looks.

Thank you.

That water looks for some reason a lot better than any other replacement, in my opinion. Or I should rather say, it has more style.

The water is mostly based upon the ones from the original Legend of Zelda, except in the texture pack the still water is actually animated.

Did a lot of updating to the pack-check the change log and updated images for more info.

Also, I'm sort of trying to think of a catchier name for the texture pack that will grab people's attention. The original thread I posted on the Minecraft Forum had no responses and got buried pretty quickly. :(
