dobby42's Showcase

Postby dobby42 » 03 Jul 2012, 17:51

I have been working on a showcase(A house). It's in Seyda Neen near the lighthouse. If you want to look at it in the editor, the cell is called 'Seyda Neen, My House'.

Well after taking a quick look at the claymore, I have to say, if you did those textures, I am impressed.(and thats saying something) You obviously have some experience.
I noticed the glow maps and normal maps. Unfortunatly with MW, simply adding these in doesnt work well, you have to add certain things in the nif file itself to get them to work at all. Also, I noticed the icons were 64x64, last I remember I think they are supposed to be 32x32, but thats not too much of an issue.(I havent had to make many icons in a while)

You did however get the basics right.

I will take a look at the rest later, but if its anything like the claymore, this is how weapons sould be done.
Tarius: I have now conquered the galaxy twice and am working on a third. Once thats out of me, I will be back to work.
TDF: Which game is that(I assume its a game and not real life)
The Khan: If it was real life, we would know about it. And I dont think he means this Galaxy.
Tarius: Yes, I really lead a secret double life where I am a galactic overlord.

I never had a plan to add in Oblivion weapons that were new versions of ones in Morrowind, but I'm not opposed to adding these (if Tarius deems them fitting) into shops for a different style weapon with the same properties as the morrowind version. Just adds some flavor being able to use both.

Now maybe we can get some other weapon sets done. I'd love to get most of the little items that will cover the whole province completed.

Anyway, enough rambling. Welcome to P:C.
If Tarius gives the green light after further inspection you will be open to a much expanded forum.

We would just use the model and texture anyway, set them up like the vanilla ones so it all matches up properly. Basically the same weapons with a different look for variety because variety and detail is something we like here.

From purely a lore perspective, aren't all glass weapons made in Morrowind so having a different style in Cyrodiil is a bit odd?

This is copy paste yes, no changes made. When I compare them to my original OB files I see no difference. Same texture and same mesh. He meant to say he did nifskoping so the OB mesh would work in MW. But you are not allowed to distribute that.

He means that they can't use them. They are Bethesda's intellectual property. Of course, nothing prevents you from using them in your own game, even though Bethesda strongly discourages converting resources, but you can't distribute them to anyone else.

That is what tkl7 said. PC can't use this anyway, but feel free to use it in your own morrowind install.

It is hard to draw a straight line on intellectual property. I'd say go save and start out with your own box/cylinder etc. and use the OB model as a reference. Also the texture can't be used. So you would have to make a new one for that too.

The problem is that you would still be using the oblivion mesh as a base. It's best to start from scratch with a mesh and texture you make yourself.

Not having different styles is odd TDF, swords look different from maker to maker or blade to blade, but yeah within the constraints of the game and all that it would look odd. Not that it matters since we wont be using those meshes anyway.
