Cyrodiil Music Files

Postby Leon » 27 Jun 2012, 22:17

Here are the Ayleid music tracks; 18 min in total.

I gave it a mysterious, scary and holy feel to it.
Hope you like it, if not... please tell what's wrong with it and I shall improve.
Now, I will continue my journey with the explore and battle tracks ;)

Just gave the first one a listen. Nice atmosphere.

I'll give the other a listen later, just wanted to say that if they are similar then you have got it right.

1st song
from ~6 up to about 33-34, pretty good
~after that, sounds a bit dissonant
~47 right feel here
~58 not as good
~1:31 the two main tones here sound conflicting, almost like two songs overlaid

2nd
~15 dont like that voice much
~1:08 dont like that voice much either
~1:19 especially here
~1:43 and here

3rd song
~22 lower tone sounds a bit dissonant
~45 sec, very good voice
~1:51 good voice also
~2:45 not as good, but not terrible

4th song
~11 tingle sounds, always hated those, but I guess thats opinion
~1:31 more tingle sounds
~2:29 heavy on the left side speaker

5th
~29 needs more emphasis on deep chant type thing
~1:40 I believe this sounds like an oboe, could do something based on that more for something, otherwise sounds nice

Alright, mostly ok. Fits in as background music, but not something I would really listen to on its own. Just my opinion though. I would say not bad its acceptable. I can say at certain points I felt like I should make my models look more wet to fit the music.(I have very specific likes though, so I am not an all round music person)

Maybe a couple other people can come and give their opinion on this.

Tarius: Yes, I really lead a secret double life where I am a galactic overlord.

Who does the music Tarius, you or me?

IT IS MEANT TO BE ATMOSPHERIC AMBIENT BACKGROUND MUSIC

Please do not criticize music, where you have no knowledge about.
It is background music, not a Mozart symphony..... there is a difference between the two. :nono:

To be fair you did ask for opinions.

I agree it seems something about it being backround music somehow wasn't understood, but lets not all get angry every time something isn't praised. I personally enjoyed the music, some parts got a bit quiet here and there though.

Let's say since this is the only music we've got, I'm not taking any chances.

This was not bad. I did not particularly "enjoy" listening to it, mainly because it's supposed to be playing in the background of a game, in a 'spooky' ruin. It did fit that.

However, I'm gonna go ahead and say all tracks sounded - actually - quite similar. As in, very similar. It was mostly low-pitched, with voices in the background, etc... I'd like to hear more variety, to be honest. I did like how you used some higher tones here and there, but I say if you brought in more combinations between high and low tones with a couple more 'instruments' while still keeping the general style of the music it would certainly be more entertaining.
I would be fine with using these tracks as they are though, seeing that you put some work into it, and that's what matters here.

the low key stuff with the wind effects messes with my pc speakers. But it is a cheap laptop. Otherwise. it is dark spookyish background music.

This exactly.

You did ask for opinion though and you can be garunteed I will deliver that for good or bad.

Like I already said, it fits as background music.

Personally I really like those Ayleid tracks; they're very atmospheric and creepy. They remind me somewhat of the Myst games, which is always a good thing in my opinion. I especially like the parts where you hear something like a faint scream or howl in the distance.

Scamp does have a point about them all being quite similar, however. It might be nice to have a couple more, slightly different ones for the sake of variety.

And so shall it be. I will make a few tracks that are very variable...

So, these aren't the final version yet and will try to improve them a bit. Stay tuned! :D

The link in the first post is updated, I made 3 extra tracks and I improved the previous ones a tiny bit.
Now I'm going to finish the Main Theme so that we could use it in an "Official" trailer. :nyansheo:

Wow, I couldnt locate this thread very easily when having to look through the forums for it. Shouldnt this be in sound or something?

Anyway
Song 1
This is great, not much to complain about.(or it would be nitpicking if I did)

Song 2
Its ok for background

Song 3
This one is great too. However, at about 1:15, there was like a gap without much sound. Before and after this was nice, but this gap didnt feel right, like it was lacking a transition from the first to the second part.

Song 4
Ok as just background

Song 5
This one is fine.

Song 6
Fine for background.

Song 7
This one is nice.

Song 8
I like this one.

Definitely mostly improved from before.

Thanks Tarius....
The link is again updated and the gap in 1:15 is now fixed...

I hope that SamirA or someone is able to script this music in the Ayleid interiors... And that our battle tracks also can be played next to the Ayleid music, if the player is in one of the Ayleids interiors.

I already kinda made a map structure, but this is what I had in mind:

Data Files -> Music -> Province Cyrodiil -> Ayleid
Data Files -> Music -> Province Cyrodiil -> Battle
Data Files -> Music -> Province Cyrodiil -> Explore
Data Files -> Music -> Province Cyrodiil -> Special

So that it would be easier to script the music (I hope)

Abot should know something about scripting the music to teh interiors.

Yeah, hopefully abot will be able to sort out the music situation so we can get it all implemented properly. I just hope the game does not limit us here as it does in so many places.

No, music systems are a well developed area. Just so long as anything we put in place doesnt conflict with another mod, there shouldnt be anything wrong.(considering we will only be specifying our areas for the music to play, this is doubtful)

Ok, one think I'd change is "Province Cyrodiil" to shorter "PC", the shorter the path, the longer you can choose the file name, to stay safe with Morrowind paths/identifiers you should never exceed 31 characters of total length.

Hopefully. But to be 100% sure I have to study Xiran music system, BTB editing and see if/when conflicts may arise, I think the one problem could be battle music.
