Reman Stones

Postby Wollibeebee » 27 Feb 2013, 00:13

I was just about to begin copying the models used in Oblivion forthe Reman stones (there's a Lady Stone beside Anvil) when I realized that was pretty dull.

Do you guys want them the same? Or is there a concept your wish to pursue? I can't look for anything myself, due to a lack of broadband, but if anyone has an idea better than copying Oblivion, post it here for me, and I'll begin.

Who originally made them? They looked like they were carved by cavemen or something.
Tarius: I have now conquered the galaxy twice and am working on a third. Once thats out of me, I will be back to work.
TDF: Which game is that(I assume its a game and not real life)
The Khan: If it was real life, we would know about it. And I dont think he means this Galaxy.
Tarius: Yes, I really lead a secret double life where I am a galactic overlord.

magical caveman who sometimes made purposeless iron chains.

I believe they were made in the 2nd empire, Remans. There purpose in Oblivion was just to be a diablo-style-perk-thing. But adding some actual use and lore for them would be good.

That's about all we know about them officially.

Personally, I like the Oblivion version.

I think they should have been smooth at one time. I think they should have the appearance of being worn down and have chips and pieces missing. Nothing terribly deep, but shallow chunks missing. It would make them look rough, not falling apart.

Here's some cheep and cheerful stones:

At some point someone will need to add some glow maps/decals to them to assign one to each theme (lord, lady, etc).

Ah, lets take a look...

Ugh! No. I do not like those for this at all. It looks like a snow man. We need actual carved stones here, not stacked way markers.

Wolli- I'd suggest looking at some pictures of menhir for inspiration.

They don't have to look exactly like Oblivion's version, but I think we should stick kinda close to that concept.

Alright, stacked stone it isn't. Those Menhir's look simple enough for me.

Like a snow man? :O

Yea, this. But make them look like at one point they were completely smooth and have simply sustained weathering etc.
