SWG's Farmhouses

Postby starwarsgal9875 » 04 Jan 2011, 18:58

Well, as of now we don't have any farmhouses, so I made one, there's three exterior farmhouse meshes to be made, 3 interior, and some stables, this one isn't textured yet but it's a start.

I made a couple textures and stuck them on the farmhouse, check it out:

Now I gotta make the rest of the textures, and the rest of the meshes... Speaking of interiors though I think we may be able to use a retextured common nord home interior, I was considering just using those as farmhouses, but there are lots of differences, except using the interiors slightly modified would fly well, and cut me back on some work, since I hate making interior stuff.

Ok, I made another texture and stuck it on the farmhouse, I also re-UVmapped it and did some extra vertex shading:

BTW why isn't anyone but me posting in this thread? ;)

Ok, the first mesh is done!

Now to the next mesh, after this is done, someone's gotta work on replacing all the common home architecture used in our various villages with this stuff.

that really looks great!

One issue im sure you are aware of though is the strectching on the roof with the uv, but other than that good, a finished product!

Hmm, I should fix that, it's only on the bottom of the roof though, the rest is fine.

I got the door done, and I also fixed the roof on that first mesh. Here's the door:

I just tested my farmhouse ingame and it works and looks great, There is a slight issue with the collision (you can fall through the roof by trying to jump onto it but hitting the fold where the thatchwork starts) but it could easily be fixed by adding a collision node.

Here's a couple shots of it ingame, night and day:

And the windows glow at night!

wow! looking great, SWG. these will work nicely in game, indeed.

the only two things it might help to tweak would be to have the Chimneys separate, so that they can be placed differently to add variation with both Int and Ext placement, and if you could make the stone texture a bit mossy/dirty along the bottoms of the houses.

The chimney's can be split I guess, the mossyness isn't a good idea, since the texture is tiled seamlessly along the whole farmhouse. Although I was planning on making a bunch of 2d plane peices for placement over walls etc. with textures on them like moss, dirt etc.

EDIT: Got another one done:

I like it but I'm not really sure about those light blue windows, maybe it could be better if they are orange or a similar color.

It's the glowmaps, they didn't work as I intended, I wanted the windows to retain their dark green colour in the day and be light blue at night, but the glowmaps made them light blue constantly.

I'll probably end up fixing the issue, but right now there's still more stuff in that set for me to finish.

It wasn't that fast, it took me like 5 hours, and I took extremely long breaks (around weeks each). :P

Are we still using these? They will make great homes to use in the small villages of the Colovian Highlands.

They were never uploaded and SWG doesnt have access to his computer. If we cant get them by the time we move on to the Gold Coast we have to use the ones I made.

That is very unfortunate. I'm sure yours are nice as well though. I didn't know you had created any.
