Ayleid Interiors

Postby Tarius » 08 Jan 2012, 20:31

Alright, heres the start to the interior meshes:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22081676/ayleid ... extures.7z

1 chest
1 straight hall
1 turn hall
1 3way
1 4way
1 spiral entrance

and 4 more textures

I decided to go ahead and get these in. Vertex coloring will need to be applied at some point and the spiral entrance is going to have more work done, but as they are now, they are acceptable. I am not that happy with the chest, but it looks good enough. The major thing with the chest is I think I can make the texture look better plus the UV.

This set is calling for textures that I don't have anywhere. ayleid wall and things like that. I searched to see if something simply had a different name, but nothing matched up with the top screen.

Whoever wrote the original CSS for the forum style obviously didn't have the posting of image attachments in mind. I'd have no idea how to fix that and it isn't such a huge deal that it's worth worrying about.

I take it that last one is supposed to be a chest (or is it called a coffer?) and will be smaller in-game? The texture appears a bit low-res but I'm assuming that in-game we won't be able to look at it as closely as in the screenshot. I would recommend for the future not to make screenshots for such items quite as large and/or close-up as that.

It doesn't look bad, though. Good work. Lovin' it. :vlntns: :nyansheo:

DJ, its called a reliquary, remember? from Oblivion?...
The texture is 512x512 because I try to make sure not all of our textures are 1024 or larger. I wouldnt mind them being all large, but there is a glitch involving texture loading and all.
The point of making them up close is so people can see it clearly and because it wont look any worse further away, or better.

Sorry, it's been awhile since I last played Oblivion. I recognized it was some kind of container and that it had some kind of fancy name. :scamp:

That's 512 pixels? Wow, it looks kinda blurry to me. Though looking at it again I'm guessing it's a multi-part texture, am I right?

Yea, everything is stuff into one texture. I said I thought I could do better though. For now its fine.

There has been some progress here, but this is a more complicated piece.

Good thing is that once its done, it will serve as a base for all the other pieces like this and they wont be nearly as much work.

Out of curiosity, should the Ayleid use solar or lunar panels? I do not remember them much.

I was just kiddingly implying that the Ayleid should have used solar or lunar panels to power some of their contraptions. :P I was just being silly though.

Anyway, nice looking architecture there, Tarius. Except for the UV mapping on the sides of the top, but I am sure you just haven't gotten to that part yet. ^^
Best wishes,
